Rated 2 out of 5 by Christopher J. from $140 Repair After Four Months....I bought this to replace a Marantz that worked flawlessly for five years, mostly for news reporting. After about four months of gentle use (carried in a Domke bag when not recording) one of the XLR release buttons fell off. That locked a long cable I do not normally use into the DR 100. Tascam says it is out of the warranty except for parts. The repair shop authorized by Tascam says Tascam wouldn't even cover the part and abrupty told them it didn't even have the information it needed. Meanwhile, it looks like I'll be paying about $140 for shipping, labor and the parts on a unit that was $400. Plus, the repair shop says when it opened the unit and went to replace the switch a ribbon cable that it described as flimsy broke. So, the tech put in a new wire. The sad thing is that I really like this unit. It's been great. But this is not how professional equipment should be built or how a company that wants to provide pro equipment should behave.
